Today I followed the gym routine. The gym routine starts off with five minutes of stretching. I stretched, starting from the top of my body to the bottom. Next, I moved on to the neck exercises. I got on the ring, laid on my stomach, and moved my neck and head up and down; I continued turning my body until I had already done every side of my body. After that, I went to jump roping. I jump roped for four rounds of three minutes. I put on my hand wraps and shadow boxed for four rounds. After shadow boxing, I moved on to the ducking rope which I did for three rounds. For each round, I did a different combination for the entire round. After that, I put on my boxing gloves and practiced on the heavy bag for two rounds. When I was done, my mentor worked with me and two other girls the pads on the ring. We practiced the combination of two jabs, a cross, and finishing with a one- two combination. He had us switch after working with us individually for a minute each and me and my friend had to move side to side alone the edge of the ring while he worked with the other girl. We did this for two rounds. Lastly, I ended the routine with incorporating strength exercises which consisted of 50 crunches, two rounds of three minutes of wall sits, and 30 double leg lifts.
I encountered many problems with my outfit choice. I wore a spaghetti strap which kept falling off of my shoulder and my shoes weren’t adequate for working out; they ended up hurting my toes. I solved the problem of my spaghetti strap falling by connecting the two parts at the back with clip. Sadly, there was no way to solve my shoe choice.
Tomorrow, I plan to follow the gym routine but include the speed bag, practice hooks with the use of a bar along with uppercuts on the uppercut bag.

Like yesterday, I followed the gym routine. I stretched and then moved on to the neck exercises. Unlike yesterday, instead of only doing four rounds of jump roping, I did six, followed by four rounds of shadow boxing. During shadow boxing, I practiced the combination that my mentor had worked with me on yesterday which was throwing two jabs, a cross, and a one-two. I skipped the ducking rope but immedietly went on to do three rounds of heavy bag. On one round, I practiced the same combination that I had practiced yesterday, on the second I practiced the hooks, and lastly the uppercuts. I practiced moving my head and moving my feet around as I punched the bag. I incorporated the speed bag, which I didn’t have a chance to do yesterday. I did 4 rounds of the speed bag. Lastly, I ended the routine with strengthening workouts. I did a few double leg lifts, 25 crunches, a round of alternating lunges, 30 donkey kicks, and 30 fire hydrants. Lastly, I used the bar to practice the hook movement for one round.
I had problems throwing the hook properly, which is why I practiced it on the bag and using the bar.
Tomorrow, I plan to practice my footwork and ducking.

I started by following the gym routine. I did the usual stretches and neck exercises followed by six rounds of jump roping, I did the four rounds of shadow boxing, three rounds of speed bag, I skipped ducking rope and proceeded with two rounds of heavy bag. My mentor then called me to work with me on the ring. Since there wasn’t many people today, he worked individually with me. We practiced the combinations that he has taught me and then focused on footwork, blocking, and ducking at the same time as we practiced the combinations. He would throw a hook and I had to duck, step to my side, and finish off with a cross. My mentor taught me how to use the double ended bag, which I had never used before. Lastly, I did my own workouts. I did crunches, donkey kicks, and tricep dips.
While working with me, my mentor noticed that I have problems with hands speed and moving my right leg first then my left. When throwing punches, my mentor observed that I pause before throwing the next punch when I should’ve done it immediately. After ducking, I was supposed to move my feet to the right starting off with my right foot and then my left foot but I moved my left leg first and then my right. My mentor informed me that if I did that during a spar, I could fall. To solve this problem, my mentor showed me how to use the double ended bag which allowed me to practice on my rhythm and speed along with my footwork.
Tomorrow I plan to work on footwork with the agility ladder.

I did most of the routine but mostly focused on footwork. I did the stretches and neck workouts along with six rounds of jump roping and four rounds of shadow boxing; however, I did not do heavy bag, speed bag, and ducking rope. I didn’t do them because my mentor worked with me and two other people on the ring with the ducking rope. The two ropes for ducking rope were criss crossed over each other to create an x shape. In each of the half of the rope we got, we had to practice like we would during the normal ducking rope. The difference between the normal ducking rope and this method was that we had to also go backwards while doing the combinations. It not only involved throwing combinations and punches, but also rhythm and footwork. After practicing the punches, we did side to side. Each time we approached a rope, we had duck in a squat motion and the go on to side to side again. We did all of this during five rounds. After that, I went on to the double ended bag for three rounds. Lastly, I went to do footwork on the ladder for 4 rounds. Lastly, I incorporated sit ups with the 12 pound medicine ball and squat jumps.
I had problems with my footwork when we were doing the ducking rope, but I asked my mentor for guidance and he showed me the correct form.
On Monday, I plan to do more footwork.

Today I stretched, did neck workouts, six rounds of jump roping, four rounds of shadow boxing, I skipped the heavy bag, I did two rounds of speed bag, and got called to get worked with on the pads for two rounds. While doing the training pads, I practiced the combination of jab, jab, cross, duck, duck, and cross. The second round consisted of the combination of jab, cross, left uppercut, right uppercut, left hook, and right hook. My mentor then gathered all of the gym members to participate in a cardio and footwork session. The cardio and foot work session started out with 100 jumping jacks, we then had to do footwork on the ladder, run in between the heavy bags in a zigzag motion, run straight until we got to the second ladder and we had to do some more footwork. That cycle lasted for four rounds, the last two rounds of the cardio and footwork session ended off with running around the gym without break.
I don’t like running, so I encountered problems doing it but I pushed myself through. I had trouble pacing myself and ran out of breath too soon but I pushed myself through by telling myself that if I want to building endurance, I have to run.
Tomorrow I plan to practice blocking and ducking.

I did the stretches, neck workouts, four rounds of jump rope, and four rounds of shadow boxing. When I finished shadow boxing, my mentor had me and two others practice ducking, moving side to side, and going forward and backwards when throwing punches with the use of the x shaped ducking rope. After we finished the ducking rope, we moved on to working on the cardio session with the heavy bags incorporated. We got assigned to a heavy bag which we had to do combinations on. When my mentor said switch, we switched clockwise onto a different bag. We had to run and move from side to side which was the cardio part of it. Lastly, we as a group did a medicine ball workout for two rounds. The medicine ball workout consisted of getting in a circle but with space in between each person, and one person in the middle. The person in the middle had to throw the medicine ball to the other’s stomachs and they had to catch it while letting out air. That workout teaches us to learn how to take a blow to the stomach. For the final round, I was the person in the center of the circle. I ended the routine with strength training workouts such as arm workouts with five pound weights, squats, squat jumps, and crunches.
I encountered problems once again with running. I tried my best to correct it by pacing myself and breathing through my nose then letting it out of my mouth.
Tomorrow, I plan to work on blocking.

Today I did the stretches, neck workouts, did jump rope for six rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, did heavy bag for two rounds. When I was doing the heavy bag, my mentor called me up to work with me on the pads individually; We worked for five rounds. I let him know that I wanted to practice blocking. The rounds consisted of the combination of two jabs, a cross, a jab and a cross, ducking twice, and a right hand punch, we then moved on to working with blocking the jab and throwing a right hand punch. After that, I had to block the jab and the cross and then throw my jab and cross. The last two rounds were practicing slipping the jab and right hand punch he threw to me, changing my spot, and throwing the jab and right hand. I ended the routine with doing squats, crunches, lunges, and practicing my hooks with the bar.
I had difficulties with blocking the jab and proceeding to throw my cross but I overcame them after focusing completely on the task and my mentor having me practice it multiple times.
Tomorrow I plan to work on blocking.

My mentor was not at the gym today, so I didn’t get worked with on the pads; however, I did do some of the things that he has taught me. I stretched, did the neck exercises, did jump rope for six rounds, four rounds of shadow boxing, did three rounds of heavy bag, went on the ring to do the x shaped ducking rope for four rounds, two rounds of speed bag, three rounds of blocking with my friend, and used the rowing machine for the time remaining.
Since the combination of blocking and punching was taught to me on Monday and it was the first time I had done it, it was very tricky and a bit confusing when I practiced it with my friend. I solved this problem by giving this combination my full attention and practicing.
Tomorrow, I plan to do practice footwork.

Today, I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for six rounds, shadow boxing for four rounds, and did the heavy bag. After shadow boxing, my mentor called us up to the ring to do the ducking rope, which we did for three rounds rounds and doing one round of a mini cardio session. The four rounds consisted of: moving side to side, practicing uppercuts, the double jab and a right hand punch combination, and high knees. After I was done with the heavy bag, my friend and I practiced blocking for two rounds and then got called up to work on the pads for four rounds. While my mentor worked with one person, the two other people practiced blocking.
I had no difficulties today.
I plan to work on footwork tomorrow.

I began the gym routine with stretching, doing neck exercises, six rounds of jumping rope, five rounds of shadow boxing, six rounds of ducking rope, and five rounds of heavy bag. After finishing with the heavy bag, my mentor had us doing six rounds of the ducking rope but incoorporated cardio into it. The cardio included running around the ring, moving from side to side, and high knees. When we were done with the ducking rope session, we went on to doing heavy bags as a group. There were two people on the opposite side of one heavy bag. We had to punch the bag at the same time, keeping our positions aligned, and making sure that the bag was stable instead of it moving from side to side. This worked on our footwork since we had to move clockwise and counterclockwise while keeping aligned with each others position. I moved on to using the rowing machine. I did one round of practicing hooks with the bar. After that, I did 40 crunches. To finish, I used the ladder to practice my footwork.
During shadow boxing, I practiced a combination that i was taught on monday. It is completely new to me so I had trouble remembering what to do or how to do it. The combination was slipping a jab and a right hand punch to avoid getting hit, ducking twice, changing my spot and throwing the jab followed by a right hand punch. After a while I started getting used to it, but I need to practice it.
On monday I will practice the combination I had trouble with and use the double ended bag. I will use the double ended bag to improve my speed, balance, footwork, and punching accuracy.

When I was doing shadow boxing, I practiced the combination that I had trouble doing. Lastly, I used the rowing machine.
I had trouble remembering the steps to the combination that I had trouble doing, but I ended up remembering how to do it.
Tomorrow, I am going to practice slipping and blocking.

I started off with stretching and neck workouts. I proceeded to doing four rounds of jump rope but was told to do duking rope. We did three rounds of duking rope and then put on our gloves to work on the pads as well as blocking. Me and another girl practiced blocking while my mentor worked with another girl, he then switched us and the one who was getting worked with was now practicing blocking. This process continued until he had worked with all of us twice. I moved on to doing the heavy bag for three rounds and the practiced on the double ended bag for two rounds. I was then called to do the medicine ball workout. Everyone got on the ring and made a circle spreading out around the ring. There was one person in the middle with a medicine ball. The person with the medicine ball had to throw each person the ball to the stomach and they had to take the hit but catch it. If it wasn’t getting thrown at us yet, we had to practice the combinations. We did around seven rounds of that workout because everyone had to be the person in the middle, with people switching during the break. I didn’t get to practice slipping but I did practice blocking.
I was the person in the middle for a round and my arms were tired because of the energy and strength that has to be used when we throw the ball. I worked through it by motivating myself and telling myself that I had to do it if I want to be stronger.
Tomorrow I will practice slipping and footwork.

Today I didn’t get to work with footwork nor slipping; however I did get worked with a lot. There was a new girl around my age and right after I stretched, my mentor had me guide her through shadow boxing after he taught her how. I also had to analyze a spar and notice what each person did correctly and what they could've done instead. After watching the spar, we went onto ducking rope. My mentor had all of us practice combinations, run around the ring, and move from side to side around the ring for four rounds. After that, we got our gloves on and used the heavy bags for four rounds. I practiced blocking with another girl and then got called up to get worked with on the pads. After everyone got worked with on the pads two times each, we had to move from side to side and do walking lunges as my mentor was working with someone. My mentor had a body protector on, and when my turn came, I had to punch him in the chest and throw left and right hooks to his body where the protector was. I finished off with two rounds on the double ended bag.
I had difficulties throwing hooks to his body. My mentor was patient with me and let me do it slowly until I understood the movement.
Tomorrow I plan to do strengthening workouts.

Today I did the gym routine. I started off with stretching and neck workouts. I proceeded to do four rounds of jump roping and four rounds of shadow boxing. Me and other people got called up to get worked with on the ring. My mentor worked with us until he had worked with us individually three times. I learned two new combinations. During the first one, I had to punch my mentors stomach with the jab-right combination and then hit the pads with another jab right combination. The second combination was a jab to the stomach another to the pads which were next to his face and then a cross. I moved on to the heavy bags to practice those combinations. I did two rounds of the speed bag and two rounds of the double ended bag. We got called again to the ring, but this time to do the medicine ball workout. My mentor explained that the medicine ball workout that we do is to help us with our footwork since we move around in a circle to throw the ball and our feet have to be in the correct position to the person we are throwing it to, to help us learn how to take a punch to the stomach, and to learn to throw precise punches because when we throw the ball it has to be directly on the stomach. We did the medicine ball workout for four rounds. I was once again in the middle for one round.
I was not feeling very well today. Since I wasn’t feeling very good, I don’t do as well as I could’ve. I was very tired, my head was pounding, and I felt like throwing up.
Next time, I plan to practice footwork.

I stretched, did the neck workouts, did jump rope for four rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds. I skipped the ducking rope and instead went directly to doing footwork on the agility ladder for four rounds. I went to the heavy bag and practiced combinations for four rounds until my mentor called me up to work with me individually. We practiced combinations that he had taught me during other sessions. The combinations were block the jab, throw my jab, cross, duck, step to the side, and cross. Other combinations were the slip to the right, slip to the left, duck, and cross; the combination of a jab to the stomach, a jab to the face, a duck, and a cross; lastly, the combination of blocking his jab and cross, immediately after throwing my jab and cross. I went on to finish off with 2 rounds of the rowing machine.
My biggest difficulty was letting my body loose. I was really stiff. My mentor advised me to let my body listen to the music and feel the beat as I did the combinations.
Tomorrow I plan to practice blocking.

I got worked with on the pads for two rounds with four other girls. While my mentor was working with one of us, the other four separated into two groups of two and practiced blocking. As a group, the entire gym did a footwork/cardio session which consisted of doing footwork on one ladder, running to the other ladder and continuing with more footwork, the running around the bags and back to the first ladder. Occasionally, my mentor called us out of the routine to do footwork on a wheel and jumping jacks. The footwork on the wheel is getting in the boxing stance but jumping and changing to the opposite stance in a circle around the wheel. I didn’t do heavy bag but I got some more footwork and blocking done.
I had difficulties with the wheel since I have only done it one other time, but I will practice more on it and I will get better within time.
Next time I plan to work on blocking and do strength exercises.

I got to the gym and did the routine of stretching, neck exercises, jump roping, and shadow boxing. My mentor called me up to work with a guy and me on the pads and the newly installed heavy bags. He taught me a new combination of two jabs, one right hand punch, a jab followed by a cross, a left hand hook, and a cross. We only did the pads for one round, the second round was entirely dedicated to hitting the new small heavy bag and moving from side to side around the ring. Since both of the rings and all of the heavy bags were being used after I got worked with, my friend and I practiced blocking for three rounds. After blocking, I moved on to using the heavy bag for two rounds, then the double ended bag for two rounds and the speed bag for two rounds. I started to do strength workouts. I did two rounds of medicine ball squats, two rounds of the rowing machine, a few pushups, and a coach taught me how to use curl bar weight. I did the curl weight for as many reps as I could.
The difficulty I had was learning how to use the curling weight. The problem was solved after I repeatedly watched the coach do the curl bar weight himself and tell me what I was doing wrong when I did it.
Tomorrow I plan to do cardio and strength training workouts.

I did the stretches, neck workouts, sit ups, four rounds of jump roping, four rounds of shadow boxing, two rounds of ducking rope, three rounds of heavy bag, and three rounds of the speed bag. After doing the ducking rope, the heavy bags were all being used, so my friend and I practiced blocking for three rounds. Once I was done with the blocking, I was finally about to use the heavy bag. Right after my third round on the heavy bag, my mentor worked with my friend and I on the pads for two rounds. I had exactly 30 minutes to spare when I was done with the entire routine and I used that time to do strength training and cardio workouts. I did mountain climbers, jumping jacks, crunches, flutter kicks, bicycle kicks, plank, shoulder touch plank, and high knees. I ended the boxing session with doing a round of the curl bar weight.
I didn’t find anything to be difficult today.
Tomorrow I plan to keep practicing the curl bar weight and do footwork on either the agility ladder or the wheel.

I did the gym routine of stretching, neck exercises, sit ups, jump roping for four rounds, shadow boxing for four rounds, and speed bag for three rounds. My mentor worked with all of the girls in the gym today. While he was working with one person the pads, the rest of the people were hitting the heavy bags and he kept switching us until each of us got worked with twice. He then made us practice blocking with each other. When we were done, there was around half of an hour left until 8pm. I did two rounds of the curl bar weight and I then focused on footwork with the use of the agility ladder. When there was five minutes left until 8 o’clock, me and another girl used the medicine ball to do squats.
I had difficulties being on my toes because I got blisters on them. I couldn’t solve the problem right there and then but I pushed myself through it.
Tomorrow I plan to practice ducking, the double ended bag, and practice hooks with the bar.

Today I did the gym routine. I stretched, neck exercises, sit ups, four rounds of jump roping, four rounds of shadowboxing, three rounds of duking rope, two rounds of speed bag, four rounds of double ended bag, and two of the heavy bag. My mentor worked with seven people- including me- on pads for three rounds, switching us off. He made us move from side to side for half of the round and do jumping jacks for the other half. I ended by using the bar to practice hooks for two rounds and the rest of the time was used for doing strength training workouts. The workouts were plank shoulder touches, plank, crunches, lunges, and flutter kicks.
I did not struggle with anything today.
Next time I plan to practice ducking and practice my footwork.

I did half of the routine today. I only did the stretches, neck workout, jump rope, and three rounds of shadow boxing. I was going to do my fourth round of shadow boxing but my mentor called me and two other people to work on the pads. He worked with us on the pads for four rounds, switching us off throughout the round. While he worked with one of us, the other two would practice combinations on the heavy bag. He then had us move from side to side around the ring and throwing punches; Once there were 30 seconds left, we did jumping jacks, and a plank. Him working with us didn’t end there, we went to the mirrors where we shadow box and practiced hooks with the bar for a couple rounds. We proceed to continue with a combination of cardio and footwork. We used the agility ladder and then ran around the bags and continued with the agility ladder once again repeating it for two rounds. We moved on to ab workouts where we used each others weight to do sit ups at the same time and another workout similar to the flutter kicks but instead just leaving our feet off of the ground not moving them. My mentor taught me how to use a slip bag. I tried it for two rounds. We finished off by stretching for a good amount of time.
I had difficulty with the slip bag because I was so slow at moving my head that the bag hit me on the back of the head.
Next time, I am going to practice the slip bag along with blocking.

I didn’t go to the gym for three days because I was sick, but that did not affect my endurance. I got to the gym, stretched, used the jump rope for four rounds, shadow boxed for five rounds, moved onto the heavy bag for two rounds. When I was about to start the third round, my mentor started working with me on the pads. I learned two new combinations: jab to the stomach, jab to the face, right hand punch, and the cross combination. The other combination was two jabs to the face, right hand punch, left hook, and right hook following. My mentor had us do a mini cardio session of jogging around the ring, doing jumping jacks, and walking lunges. Next he had us, practice blocking. When I was done getting worked with, I went to where I left off and continued for two more rounds on the heavy bag. I moved on to practice the slip bag, which I learned how to use on Friday. I then used the double ended bag for two rounds. Once I was done with the routine, I started doing strength training workouts. I did plank, bicycle kick, flutter kicks, plank shoulder touches, curl bar weight, and the rowing machine.
I had a few difficulties today. My jump rope broke and I had to get one of the ones the gym has available. Sadly, the ones that are long enough for my height were being used, and the ones left were short. I did have to stop a lot, but I did not let that get in my way of completing the four rounds. I also had difficulties with the slip bag. I got hit in the face with it and I was really slow and tense. I will keep practicing it everyday to get better at it.
Tomorrow I plan to do strength training workouts, practice the combinations I learned today, and practice the slip bag.

My mentor was not at the gym today, so I did not get worked with. When I got to the gym, I stretched, did the neck exercises, four rounds of jump roping, four rounds of shadow boxing, four rounds of ducking rope, four rounds of heavy bag, two rounds of speed bag, and two rounds of the slip bag. When I was shadow boxing, I practiced the combinations I learned the day before. I incorporated four rounds of running on the treadmill, which I plan to use more often to become better at running and cardio. Lastly, I ended with planks, tricep dips, a different variety of sit ups, and squats. When I used the heavy, bag, I used a different one for every round to practice different combinations.
I had trouble lasting through the rounds of treadmill, but I pushed myself through it. I will start using it more often.
Next time, I am going to practice the slip bag, use the treadmill, and practice footwork.

I wasn’t able to go to the gym last week every single day but I went hard today. I did the gym routine of stretching, neck workouts, jump roping for four rounds, shadowboxed for four rounds, did the heavy bag for two rounds, used the slip bag for one round, and did the double ended bag for one round as well. My mentor worked with me and a few other people for six rounds. Those rounds consisted of some people doing the heavy bags while he worked with an individual, then we switched positions until we got to work with him. My mentor worked with me for more time than he did with the other people, we worked on the combination of jab, jab, right, hook, hook, duck, and a cross. We practiced blocking, did jumping jacks, planks, sit ups, and moved from side to side. Lastly, I went to go do strengthening workouts which consisted of junges, curtsy lunges, crunches, jack knife sit ups, flutter kicks, jumping jacks, and donkey kicks. I was sadly not able to do the x shaped ducking rope or footwork because I was worked with for so long and because I got dizzy.
I had a lot of difficulty when I was getting worked with because I got dizzy and a cause of that almost fell. I pushed myself through it and when the final round was over, I told my mentor that I was dizzy and he told me to go rest.
Tomorrow I am going to practice footwork, since I was not able to do it today.

Today was very different. When I got to the gym, I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for 4 rounds and did two rounds of shadow boxing. When the second round of shadow boxing was over, my mentor started working with me and the person whom I am going to spar for three rounds. Those three rounds consisted of working on the pads. I learned a new combination which is two jabs to the face, a cross, a one two combination punch, slip to the right, slip to the left, change position and right uppercut to the stomach. Once those rounds were over, I went back to shadow boxing to finish the other two rounds that I had left; I practiced the new combination that I was taught. After shadow boxing, my mentor wanted the girl who I am going to spar and I to do body shots, which is like sparring but no hits to the face only the body. We also practiced punching each other in the stomach to start getting used to the feeling of getting punched. I then started doing footwork on the ladder and the wheel. Lastly, I stretched using this machine to stretch the legs.
Since I have never done body shots and I got braces, I was very confused and did not do very well because the girl accidentally punched me in the face a couple times. I was stiff and blocking more than I was punching. I did not find a way to fix that, but I will continue to practice until I understand. Besides that, nothing was really difficult.
Tomorrow, I am going to practice more footwork on the wheel and use the treadmill

I got to the gym and stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for four rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, used the heavy bag for four rounds, used the speed bag for one round, and then moved on to three rounds of treadmill non-stop. I used the ladder and wheel to practiced footwork. I ended the routine with weighted squats, planks, and using the rowing machine.
I do not like running, but I need to do cardio. So I had a little difficulty but I got used to it as I went along and I took short five second breaks or reduced the speed until I was ready to start running faster again.
Tomorrow, I am going to use the ducking rope, practice uppercuts, and practice slipping on the slip bag.

I did most of the gym routine. I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for four rounds, did shadow boxing for four rounds, and used the ducking rope for four rounds. After those four rounds were over, my mentor called me to work with him individually. He worked with me on the pads, helped me practice slipping, blocking, and my footwork by practice sparring in slow movements and while one of us was throwing the other was practicing defense. He taught me a new how to block hooks and uppercuts as well and had me practice throwing those punches to him. I did two rounds on the treadmill, and then stretched my body once again.
I had a ton of difficulties today. I can not properly slip, I bend back when I am doing it, which can making me fall backwards if someone happened to punch me. I was extremely tired and drained of energy today for some reason that I am not sure of. I pushed through it and made my way through the routine and getting worked with, but it was difficult. I was really flat footed because my feet and toes hurt, I was not able to fix that but I am going to soak my feet in epsom salt as my mentor recommended.
I know that they are not going to open for two days next week because of christmas, so on Wednesday I am going to practice slipping, do strengthening workouts, and use the treadmill.

I had not been able to go to the gym for the past days because they closed it for Christmas and family came for the holidays, but today I did go. I stretched, did the neck workouts, jump roped for four rounds, and shadowboxed for three rounds. I was going to do four rounds, but my mentor called me and three others to work with us. He had us practice body shots, where we switched off who would be punching who on the stomach. He also worked with us on the pads, but while he worked with on person on the pads, the rest were hitting the heavy bag, we kept switching and continued for four rounds. I got really dizzy so I went to go sit down, while he continued to work with them. A round after he was done working with the group and I was sitting down, we took off our shoes and went to the MMA side of the gym. We tried climbing a thick rope that goes all the way to the top of the gyms roof. Only my mentor and another guy could make it to the roof, and I was able to make it halfway. After that, my mentor taught me how to kick a kickboxing heavy bag properly. He also had me put on this belt that is connected to the wall but has resistance to it. I went out as far as I could and stood in my boxing stance shadowboxing and throwing combinations while he put his hands out like he would for the pad work.
My biggest difficulty was feeling dizzy. Although I got dizzy, I did not immediately stop, I kept going until I couldn’t anymore
On Monday, I am going to practice footwork on the wheel, speed bag, ducking and moving from side to side.

Since today is New Years Eve, the gym was not going to be open at the same time as usual, they opened it earlier today. I stretched, did the neck workouts, jump roped for four rounds. Since it was quiet a small group, my mentor had us go on the ring and shadow box while moving around in different directions. We then practiced blocking and did a few workouts which were moving from side to side, jumping jacks, planks and push ups. We also used the ducking rope for three rounds. We then started a cardio circuit of footwork on the agility ladder, hitting ever heavy bag for a certain number of hits or combinations and running around the gym. On the round heavy bag we did a shoeshine punch 10 times, on the bag against the wall we hit it 20 times in a jab, cross combination, and with the other bags we just hit the bag with our favorite combinations. This continued for four rounds until he started working with us on the pads. I had to leave earlier than five, so I only was able to do two rounds of pad work.
I struggled doing push ups, but I still tried my best.
Next time I am going to practice blocking.

The gym was not open yesterday so I was not able to come. Today I stretched, did the neck workouts, jump roped, shadow boxed for four rounds. I was going to do ducking rope on the ring but I couldn’t untangle the rope and another coach was going to work with his son, so I decided to do heavy bag instead. That coach asked if he could work with me after he was done with his son and I said yes but while I was doing the heavy bag waiting for my turn to get worked with, my mentor came by and told me and three others to go on the ring because he was going to work with us on the pads. My mentor worked with us for 6 rounds and sadly by the time he was done working with us, it was too late for the other coach to work with me too because it was already 8 o’clock.
I had no problems today.
Tomorrow I am going to do some footwork.

We practiced the combinations on the pads, we did jumping jacks, moved from side to side, planks, and partner sit ups. We got off of the
ring and started to do a cardio and footwork circuit. It consisted of the agility ladder and running between the heavy bags in a zigzag motion. I lost track of the amount of rounds that we did. We then finished off with jumping jacks, high knees, and more sit ups.
I had no real difficulties today just losing my breath when running but I fixed it when I started pacing myself.
Tomorrow I am going to do ducking rope.

I stretched, did the neck workouts, jump roped for four rounds, and shadow boxed. When I was on the fourth round of shadow boxing my mentor told me to go do ducking rope, I did it for three rounds and proceeded to get worked with on the pads. We started of by doing two rounds of blocking and then switched off doing the pad routine that we do. The entire gym then gathered to do a cardio circuit. We used
the agility ladder and punched the bags, and then ran back to the ladder. On the second round, we just did the footwork on the ladder and then ran in between the bags. On the last round, we simply ran around the gym. I finished by stretching and then left.
I had no difficulties today.
Tomorrow I am going to do strengthening workouts.

I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for four rounds, and shadow boxed for three rounds. My mentor worked with me and wore a body protector and had me punch him on the stomach, practice hooks on the body, along with the pads. He then had me doing jumping jacks and a plank. I practiced footwork on the wheel for two rounds and used the double ended bag for one round. I did medicine ball squats for two rounds before the entire gym started to do a cardio circuit which was the same as yesterdays. Meanwhile we were doing the footwork on the ladder, my mentor pulled people aside to do things like squats, practicing footwork on the wheel, and push ups. I got pulled aside twice, once for squats and another time for footwork on the wheel. When we were done with the circuit, we did jumping jacks, partner sit ups, and flutter kicks. I ended the routine by doing strength training workouts that consisted of squat jumps, planks, flutter kicks, side planks, and jack knifes.
I had problems throwing the hook to my mentors body but he guided me so that I could do it better.
Tomorrow I am going to use the double ended bag, do footwork, and do strengthening workouts.

I had us all practice the jab, the cross, uppercut, the combination of two jabs and a cross, and the combination of a jab and a cross. For each punch and combination that we practiced, it was one round that had passed by. After that I practiced the double ended bag and ended up working out on my own.
I had no problems doing anything today.

Today I did the gym routine of stretching, doing the neck workouts, jump roping for four rounds, and shadow boxing for four rounds. After doing shadow boxing, some people started sparring, so I watched and analyzed their movements. After watching the spars, I moved on to the x shaped ducking rope which I did for five rounds, practicing different moves each time. I moved on to the double ended bag which I used for two rounds and then finished with strengthening workouts. The workouts consisted of medicine ball squats, for four rounds, jumping jacks, planks, crunches, jump squats, and mountain climbers.
My only problem was trying to choose which moves to work on during the x shaped ducking rope.
Tomorrow I am going to practice a few moves that I have problems on like the 2 jabs to the face, a cross, one two, sliding to the right, then to the left, and changing position as well as slipping.

After hitting the heavy bag, my mentor started to work with me on the pads, since I told him about the combination that I have problems with, he worked with me on it for various rounds. After he was done working with me, I continued to practice it on the ring in the form of shadow boxing. That was the last thing that I did before I left.
I had problems with the combination at first, but as he worked with me more on it, I got better.

My mentor called me up to work with me individually. We mostly practiced the combinations that he had taught me prior to today as well as how to move faster on the ring. It is being in the boxing stance but leaping forward using the right foot, or leaping back using the left foot. After he was done working with me, I went to the mirrors and practiced the hook using the bar. I did that for two rounds and then proceeded to do the rowing machine and another machine that works out the legs and has resistance to it.
I had difficulties with not covering my face right after throwing a punch along with overthinking the new thing that my mentor taught me.

I did the gym routine of stretching, neck exercises, jump roped, shadow boxed for four rounds, hit the heavy bag for five rounds, used the double ended bag for two rounds, used the agility ladder for four rounds, The first round was jumping in each square and then squating, the second round was bunny hops, the third round was jumping in and out of each box while remaining in the boxing stance, and the fourth round was doing a plank but moving alongside the ladder putting my hands in a new square while remaining in a plank position. Next, I used the medicine ball and did weighted squats for two rounds followed by one round of jump squats, and sprinting on the treadmill in intervals. Lastly, my friend and I used a medicine ball facing each other back to back, and passing each other the medicine ball as a waist workout to help us turn our waist turn more when we throw punches.
I had problems with the sprinting for the entire round, so I decided to do intervals of sprinting with 10 - 30 seconds of walking.

I did the normal gym routine of stretching, neck workouts, and jump roping and shadow boxing for four rounds. I also used the ducking rope for one round along with hitting the heavy bag for two rounds. After doing that, My friend and I practiced blocking for two rounds. A coach taught us a new move to practice while blocking which involved one of us throwing a jab, jab, right, one, two combination and the other blocking the jabs, moving from right to left in a slipping motion to avoid the other jab and right, and blocking the one, two combination punches. After doing that, we practiced hitting each other in the stomach to get used to the feelings of getting punched in the stomach for two rounds. After that, we practiced body shots, which is almost like sparing but only hitting each other in the body not the face, without mouth guards, and head gear. When we were done, I did two rounds of the speed bag to increase my blocking speed and finished using the wheel for two rounds to practice balance and footwork.
I had problems with keeping distance when we were practicing body shots and keeping my balance on the wheel.

As I was going to go onto my third round of heavy bag, my mentor told me he was going to be working with me and another woman. I got worked with on the pads for three rounds. On all of the rounds my mentor held a boxing shield pad which he held up to his stomach and chest and had me punch it. Then he had me and the other woman practice blocking with each other for three rounds but this time instead of moving back and forward while blocking, it was moving around the ring as if we were blocking each others punches while sparing. Then he had us go to the center of the ring facing each other, imagine an imaginary line between
us and practice blocking and throwing punches while moving our bodies from left to right or right to left. Lastly, he had us do 100 jumping jacks, planks, moving from side to side around the ring, and partner sit ups. I ended today with using the speed bag, double ended bag, tricep dips, planks, and sit ups.
I had no problems today, I felt confident and healthy.

When there were around 35 minutes left, my mentor had us do a cardio circuit. The circuit consisted of doing some footwork on the agility ladder, running around the heavy bags, and back to agility ladder. My mentor would call us out individually to do squats or push ups and then we would continue with the circuit. During the last 30 seconds of the round, we would have to run around the gym continuously until the round was over. Then he made us do 100 jumping jacks, partner sit ups, and run for an entire round.
I had problems with the running once again, but I paced myself.
Tomorrow I plan to practice the slip bag, the wheel, and the ducking rope.

When I was practicing the slip bag My mentor told me to move from left to right, and then duck below. That It would help me with ducking and slipping at the same time.
During the slip bag, I was awkward and tense because I am still not used to that movement. Because of my slowness with my head movement, the slip bag ended up hitting me in the bag of the head a few times.

I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for six rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, used the heavy bag for two rounds, and the speed bag for one round. We then began to do the cardio and footwork circuit that we do. We started off with the agility ladder, ran around the bags, and back again to the ladder. Once we got closer to 8 o’clock, we began to do partner sit ups, jumping jacks, planks, and put our hands under our but leaving out legs extended for the entire time until the round was over. During the 30 seconds, we had to do flutter kicks as fast as we could.
Leaving my legs extended was the hardest part of the entire circuit. It is hard because the legs start to get tired along with the abs. I closed my eyes and imagined that I was somewhere else to not focus on the pain.
Next time I am going to use the wheel for footwork.

I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for three rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, used the ducking rope for two rounds, used the speed bag for three rounds, and used the double ended bag for two rounds. I skipped heavy bag today, but I did use the wheel. I got in my boxing stance and started to jump around the wheel in a circle while remaining on the wheel. My legs alternated each time I switched. I then stretched by touching my toes, using a machine that essentially makes your legs completely spread apart in a split sort of manner and stretched the inner thighs, and I put my leg up behind my and grabbed it with both hands to stretch my front thighs.
I was very sore from yesterdays cardio circuit and had a hard time getting low for the ducking rope.
Tomorrow I am going to practice blocking and do strength training workouts.

I did the gym routine of stretching, doing the neck exercises, jump roped for five rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, and hit the heavy bag for four rounds. I especially practiced my hooks and uppercuts on the uppercut bag and the heavy bag that is mounted against the wall. Then I continued with the speed bag for two rounds. I then began to do sit ups with a small medicine ball against my chest. I did that for two continuous rounds and then I changed the sit ups into russian twists. I did the russian twists until I could not do them anymore. I started to do medicine ball squats for two rounds.
I had difficulties with doing the uppercuts on the bag because I was either too close or too far away. I tried to fix it by dedicating the entire four rounds of the heavy bag to those two punches.
Next time, I am going to practice the slip bag and use the agility ladder to practice footwork.

I got to the gym later today, so I decided to reduce the amount of rounds for certain things I was going to do so that I could incorporate my goals for today. I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped only for one round, shadow boxed for two rounds, practiced the slip bag for two rounds, five rounds of heavy bag, three rounds of the speed bag, and three rounds of the agility ladder. During the time that I was practicing slipping, I noticed that my head movement was improving from the last time that I did it. During the first round, I did bunny hops. For the second, I hopped in and out of the squares made by the ladder still in boxing stance. Lastly, I did high knees.
My footwork was slow, so the footwork on the agility ladder was sort of hard.
Tomorrow I am going to do footwork, practice blocking and bodyshots.

We took turns in hitting each other in the stomach for three rounds. We proceeded to practicing blocking for three rounds. I started to do footwork on the agility ladder. When my mentor saw me, I had done two rounds. He decided he wanted to do the cardio footwork circuit. We started at the agility ladder, ran around the bags, and repeated the same thing. During the last round, he made us do 100 jumping jacks, partner sit ups, and one full round of a plank. During the plank, he would come by and kick our stomachs to make us hold them in tighter.
Getting hit in the stomach due to the bodyshots was the thing I found difficult today, at first it hurt and then later I got used to it and I found that flexing my stomach and breathing out when I got hit, made it easier to take the punch without it hurting at all. When I watched the video of when I recording it, I realized the weird and funny face I had made.
Tomorrow I am going to ask my mentor if we can do the medicine ball workout.

As soon as I got to the gym,I asked my mentor if we could do the medicine ball workout. I stretched, did the neck workouts, jump roped for two rounds, did four rounds of shadow boxing. After doing my four rounds of shadow boxing, my mentor worked with me for two rounds on the pads and one round doing jumping jacks, side to side, plank, and running around the ring. After I was worked with, I went on to the heavy bags and did it for only two rounds. I was told by my mentor to go join the others to do the medicine ball workout. This time, instead of being in a circle we were in a straight line in front of the shadow boxing mirrors. There was one person who had the ball and he had to throw it to us directly in the stomach, and we had to throw it back to him the same way after catching it. Meanwhile we were waiting to it thrown to us, we had to shadow box and also were told by mentor to do certain exercises for a certain number of reps. I had to do squats, planks, jumping jacks, and push ups.
I definitely struggled with the push ups. My mentor encouraged me to continue until I was done with the number of reps I had been told to do. I am normally able to do only five to ten push ups but that
day, I did 20.
Tomorrow I will do footwork on the agility ladder.

I started off by stretching, did the neck exercises, jump roped for four rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds. Once I was done with shadow boxing, I got worked with on pads. My mentor taught me a new combination, jab, cross, left hook, cross. He had me do two rounds of jumping jacks, side to side, and planks. I used the heavy bag for three rounds, but then started to do medicine ball squats with the other girls. We go into a circle and who ever had the medicine ball, squatted and as they rose upright, they threw it to someone else. The person then continued the same routine. Our mentor then told use we were going to do cardio, but it was very different than the other circuits we have done. My mentor putting these small circular cones on the floor in a straight line, he explained it was like the agility ladder but this time we had to me in a zig-zag motion. We had to go in a zig-zag motion, run around the bags, do the agility ladder,
duck a few punches that coach was throwing, go on the ring, run across the ring, and then get down slowly and start it once again. This kept going on until the end of the gym session. I loved it because it worked out all parts of our body and skills like footwork, endurance, and ducking.
Since it was a new workout and I had never done the red circular cones before, I had trouble doing the motion required but after a few rounds, I got used to it. Going up and down the ring, quickly but carefully was tough too. Luckily, there were no injuries.
Tomorrow I am going to practice body shots and do strength training workouts.

I started off by stretching, doing the neck workout, jump roped for four rounds, and shadow boxed for four rounds. My mentor worked with me for four rounds. Two of those rounds were on the pads, the other two were doing workouts like jumping jacks, side to side, running around while throwing punches up, planks, partner sit ups, and lunge walks. When I got worked with on the pads, my mentor taught me a new combination, two jabs, a cross, slide, slide, duck, duck, cross. Once I was done getting worked with, I did heavy bag for four rounds practicing the new combination that I learned. I asked one of the other girls to punch me in the stomach so that we could practice body shots. We did that for four rounds. I finished with medicine ball squats, crunches, and bicycle kicks. The person who I was supposed to spar was not able to go this entire week because of family emergencies, meaning that she wasn’t at the gym today. To make things fair, I decided that we could do it one week from today, on March 1st, 2019.
I found the lunge walks difficult because we had to continue walking as we did that. There were times where I almost tripped.
Tomorrow, I will do the x shaped ducking rope and do strength training workouts.

I stretched, did the neck exercises, jump roped for four rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, and then used the x shaped ducking rope for two rounds. During those two rounds, I practiced slipping and jab cross. I got worked with on the pads for two rounds and one round of planks, jumping jacks, side to side, and jogging around the ring. I went on to do four rounds of the heavy bag, the speed bag for two rounds, and finished off with sit ups, crunches, donkey kicks, squat jumps, and mountain climbers.
I found the x shaped ducking rope slightly tough because I forgot how to do it. I asked another person who was doing it with me.
Tomorrow, I will do more ducking rope and strength traing workouts.

My mentor had us doing ducking rope as a group for four rounds, We did jab, cross, jab-right combo, and jab, jab, cross for each round. I finished off with strength training workouts like jump squats, crunches, and an alternated version of a sit up which included laying down lifting on leg and raising the opposite arm and my body to touch the opposite leg, and lastly I stretched.
I had no difficulties doing anything today.
Tomorrow, I will do extra rounds of jump rope and use the slip bag.

I decided it was a good time to start doing the jump rope, I jump roped for four rounds. After that, I practiced the slip bag for three rounds, but this time I incorporated shadow boxing.
I had difficulties with the slip bag, I got hit in the face once again. I didn’t let that stop me and so I continued until I had to go.
Tomorrow, I will use the agility ladder and the slip bag.

Throughout the entire day, I wore my molded mouth guard so that I could get used to the feeling of having it in my mouth, ate healthy food that gave me energy, and practiced shadow boxing in short sessions whenever I could. Once I got to the gym, I took my time stretching every single part of my body, did the neck exercises, and jump roped for four rounds nonstop. My goal was to warm up my body very well so that I would not be stiff once I got on the ring. My mentor told me and my friend to get our handwraps on and get the headgear we were going to wear. He helped me get my headgear on and then proceeded to tied the boxing gloves that they use especially for sparring. Once they were on, he coated a part of our face and the headgear with vaseline. He explained that it was so that if we got hit in the face, the punch would sort of just slide off. He put in my mouth guard and made sure that it was on correctly. He set the timer for two minutes and a 30 second break, and told us we were going to spar for 3 rounds. Once the round started, Vanessa and I touched gloves and then started to throw punches. My mentor gave me advice such as: throwing certain combinations and told me when I was doing something correctly. During the breaks, he gave me water to drink and told me what I should do. In the end, he talked to me and told me what I did correctly, what was wrong, and what I should’ve done during a certain situation of the spar that I did not do. After sparring, my brother taught me how to do weighted squats using a weight. Lastly, I tried to climb the thick rope that is located on the MMA side of the ring. I got up to three fourths of the way up.
I had a few difficulties. Those were: moving around, my reaction time was slow, meaning that I did not take advantage of the times where she was distracted or not expecting it at all and threw a punch, sometimes my hands would travel down below my chin, and I could’ve thrown a bigger variety of punches.

I started by stretching, doing the neck workouts, jump roping for five rounds, shadow boxing for four rounds, doing the ducking rope for three rounds, and doing the speed bag for four rounds.

I had no real difficulties today just losing my breath when running but I fixed it when I started pacing myself.
Tomorrow I am going to do ducking rope.

Tomorrow, I am going to use the treadmill.

I did the gym routine of stretching, neck exercises, jump roped for four rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, and used the heavy bag for two rounds.
Next week I am going to practice the slip bag, ducking rope, footwork with the ladder and wheel, and do cardio on the treadmill.

I stretched, did the neck workout, jump roped for four rounds, shadow boxed for four rounds, used the heavy bag for four rounds.

Tomorrow I am going to use the speed bag and the double ended bag.

Date: February 14, 2019

Start time: 6:08pm
End time: 8:03pm
Total: 1 hour and 55 minutes
Date: February 18, 2019
Time spent:
Start time: 6:38pm
End time: 8:07 pm
Total: 1 hour and 43 minutes
Date: February 19, 2019
Time spent:
Start time: 6:03pm
End time: 8:02 pm

I stretched, did the neck workouts, jump roped for two rounds, shadowboxed for four rounds. After shadowboxing, my mentor started working with me on the pads for two rounds, the other two rounds had me run around the ring and move from side to side around the ring. Once he was done working with me, I went back to the gym routine and did heavy bag for four rounds. My friend then joined me in doing bodyshots.
Date: February 20, 2019

End time: 8:05pm
Total: 1 hour and 32 minutes
Date: February 21, 2019
Time spent:
Start time: 6:11pm
End time: 8:06 pm
Total: 1 hour and 55 minutes
